AAML and BVR National Divorce Conference

Chris, Mary and Becky just returned from the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and Business Valuation Resources National Divorce Conference. This cutting edge Conference addressed such issues as Valuing Complex Organizational Structures in Marital Dissolutions; Blockchain & Crypto Currency; and Complex Cash Flows: Analyzing Multiple Income Sources.

Mary continues on to the International Academy of Family Lawyers Open Conference in San Francisco, California.

Alaina Storie co-moderated the Second Annual Multi-Jurisdictional Family Law Judges’ Panel

On April 17th, Alaina Storie co-moderated the Second Annual Multi-Jurisdictional Family Law Judges’ Panel, held at Woodholme Country Club. Judges from Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Harford County, Howard County, and Carroll County spoke about high conflict custody cases, and the specific procedures followed in their jurisdiction. It was a well attended and very informative program.

Alaina currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Baltimore County Bar Association’s Family Law Committee, and will be the Chair during the next bar year.

Mary Sanders and Chris Nicholson presenting at the AAML’s Family Law 101: The Basics of family Law Cases for Pro Bono Attorneys

On April 30th, the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers presented Family Law 101: The Basics of family Law Cases for Pro Bono Attorneys. Mary Sanders developed the Program, moderated the Program and presented at the Program on Exceptions to the Magistrate’s Report and Recommendation.

Chris Nicholson also presented during the afternoon of the Program. Chris worked with James D. Milko to co-present on the Preparation and Trial of a Family Law case.

 

Chris Nicholson attends AAML Mid-Year Meeting

Chris Nicholson is pictured at the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Mid-Year Meeting along with other Members of the Admissions Standards and Procedure Committee. In addition to his work with the Admissions Standards and Procedure Committee, Chris currently serves on the Board of Directors for American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. In December 2018, Chris completed his term as the President of the AAML, Maryland Chapter, and as a Member of the Chapter Leaders Committee.

Chris Nicholson rides with “Team Matthew” at the 30th Annual Ocean to Bay Bike Tour

On Saturday, April 27th, Chris Nicholson was a part of Team Matthew, which completed the 30th Annual Ocean to Bay Bike Tour. Team Matthew is pictured here at the finish line (that is Chris in the bright banana-colored jersey) after completing their 60-mile bike tour. Next up for Team Matthew is the Nanticoke Triathlon on May 5th in cooperation with Team 360.
Team 360 is a non- profit organization that provides motivation and support to people of different abilities, empowering and enabling them to train and participate in mainstream athletic events.

Mary Sanders to receive the Beverly A. Groner Family Law Award for 2019

We are thrilled to announce that Mary Sanders has won the Beverly A. Groner Family Law Award for 2019. The Beverly A. Groner Family Law Award recognizes an attorney or Judge who has served the Maryland Legal Community through her/his dedication to the practice of family law and has exemplified the highest professional standards during a distinguished legal career.

To date, only seven attorneys have received the Award, including, Chris Nicholson, who received the award in 2016.

Mary shall be honored and receive her Award at the Maryland State Bar Association Legal Summit and Annual Meeting in Ocean City on June 14, 2019.
